    NETHERCOTE TRAIL HORSE RIDE

    The Nethercote Trail Horse Ride at the end of August was a wonderful success. All riders had a great day out with perfect weather and dollars are rolling into the Nethercote Hall restoration fund. The winners of the raffle drawn on August 26th: Darragh Reynolds won the whipper snipper donated by Max Milliner of Eden Chainsaw & Mower Centre, O J Colburn won the picnic hamper and the winner of the dinner set was Peter Knight. Thanks to all those who bought tickets in the raffle - every ticket means another nail in the Hall.

    SPECIAL BIRTHDAY

    Loretta and Bill Thornton of Eden enjoyed a special birthday celebration while visiting their eldest son Matthew and his family during their holiday in Bundaberg Queensland. Their grandson Leigh celebrated his 21st birthday with his parents, former Eden residents, Matthew and Rosylyn and sister Brodie.

    SPRING ORCHID SHOW

    The Sapphire Coast Orchid Club presents its spring orchid show on 21 & 22 September at the Town Hall, Zingel Place at Bega. The show will be open from 9am to 5pm on both days. The hall will be filled with spectacular blooms and heady perfume, as growers from all over the South Coast put their best on display. This is the time for Australian Native orchids, and visitors can expect to see a large variety of these colourful gems. Dendrobium speciosum, the Rock Lily, is flowering particularly well this year, and some spectacular specimens will be on show. The ever-popular Cymbidium orchids will again be well represented, complimented by a variety of other exotic blooms. Potting demonstrations and tips on orchid culture will be given by some of the South Coast's top orchid growers during the show. Entry to the show is free and there will be locally grown orchids for sale to suit both enthusiasts and new starters.

    ANNUAL NEIL McGill FAMILY CONCERT

    This Saturday night sees the 3rd Annual Neil McGill Family Concert at the Merimbula RSL commencing at 7.15am. As usual the night promises a wonderful night of music given by the talented youth of the shire. The programme, in two halves, gives two hours of varied and popular pieces drawn from the show and composers. The evening will be compared by Paul Ingle and will also include great door prizes. Be sure not to miss it. Tickets are $12 adults, $6 children and $30 for a family. They can be obtained from Magpie Music, Bega, Eden Newsagency and the Merimbula Bookshop or at the door on the night.

    SPRING FEVER

    It's on again! Yes, our Spring Fever fashion parade will be held on Monday, September 11, at the Vintage Car Club rooms, Princes Highway South Pambula. The fun will start at 11.30am for 12 noon with lunch and a trading table offering all sorts of interesting goodies. If you wish to decorate and wear a hat there will be lots of prizes along with musical entertainment and a parade of fashions for men, women and children from McPherson's Emporium in Pambula and the Op' Shop. The day is being organised by the ladies of the auxiliary for Imlay Hose Nursing Home and tickets are just $15 and are available from McPherson's Emporium or at the door.     SOCIAL HOUSIE NIGHT

    Parents, friends and students are invited to join the fun, book a table or just come long on Friday, September 22 at the Masonic Hall, Toalla Street, Pambula, eyes down at 7.30pm, tickets are $15 for 1 book of 30 games and $20 for 2 books for 30 games, bring your own drinks and nibbles, tea and coffee provided.     IMLAY SPECIAL NEEDS GROUP

    JOEY'S JUMBLES

    Joey's Op Shop urgently requires any spare knitting yarn or hand knitted jumpers to be recycled into squares for blankets for the local needy. Donations can be left at Joey's Op Shop or Merimbula St Vinnies. We thank everyone for their generous donations.

    Meetings are held the first Monday in the month at the Uniting Church Hall in Eden from 7 - 9pm.     WELCOME SHYLA

    Nathan Bishop and Belladonna Raudvee of Eden celebrated their first Fathers Day last Sunday with their beautiful firstborn child, Shyla Bishop. Shyla came safely into the world at 11.47am on Monday, September 28 at Bega District Hospital. Nathan, a fisherman, was at sea when a midwife told Bella on Sunday morning that her baby would be born a little early, but Bella waited patiently until Nathan was by her side before travelling to the hospital for Shyla's arrival. Proud grandparents are Wynne and Jack Bishop of Dongara, WA, Robyn and Michael Harris of Perico, and Raymond Raudvee of Merimbula.

    EDEN SERVICES SOCIAL CLUB

    Eden Services Social Club Inc (ESSCI) meets on the third Monday of each month at the Eden Fishermen's Club at 7pm for dinner. Men who are interested in joining this band of service volunteers can contact John Bowles on 6496 1920 and can expect some good fellowship mixed with a bit of pitching in for our community.

    EDEN EASY WALKERS

    On September 10 we are walking the Merimbula Boardwalk this is a level 1/2 walk. Every Thursday there is a walk to Aslings Beach starting at 1.30pm. This is a level 1-2 walk.     TENANT ADVISE

    Murra Mia Tenant Advice Service is at Eden Access Centre on the first Thursday of each month from 10am to 1pm to help Aboriginal tenants with landlord disputes. No appointment is necessary. For more information free call 1800 672 185.

    EDEN KILLER WHALE MUSEUM

    Would you like to know more about the killer whales of Eden and the pioneers that settled and developed our town? The Eden Killer Whale Museum welcomes volunteers to assist in all aspects of its operation, particularly those who are interested in sharing our history with visitors. The museum will provide you with all you need to know to join our team of tour guides. The only qualifications required are curiosity and enthusiasm.

    EDEN ACCESS CENTRE

    The Centre is open from 9am - 5pm weekdays and is a Centrelink agency with Medicare Easy claim and ATO Assist facilities. Other services include photocopying, laminating, binding and downloading of digital photos, Internet and fax facilities and computer training. For more information phone 6496 3970.

    EDEN SPINNERS

    Eden Spinners meet each Tuesday at the Log Cabin from 10.30am - 3.30pm, and provide tuition to anyone who would like to learn the art of spinning.

    PLAYGROUP

    FINANCIAL COUNSELLING

    FSC WRITERS

    GAMBLING COUNSELLING

    Gambling Counseling is available from Wednesday to Friday by contacting Anglicare South East on 6496 3325 or 6496 4499 to arrange an appointment.

    LUPUS SUPPORT GROUP

    The Sapphire Coast Lupus/Sjogrens Support Group holds meetings on the second Friday of the month, from February to November, at the Pambula Community Health Centre from 10am to 12pm. The meetings are informal, and include tea and coffee. Anyone who has an autoimmune disease is welcome. Just go along, or call Christine on 6494 4169 for further information.

    EDEN YOUTH CENTRE

    Young people looking for something to do or somewhere to go should visit the Eden Youth Centre. The centre, at the Mitchell Imlay Streets roundabout, is open from Tuesday to Friday from 3pm to 7pm, and until 8pm on Thursday night.

    AFTER SCHOOL CARE

    "Eden After School Care is running the Active After School Communities program again this term. Multi Skill games are being taken by Australian Sports Commission registered coaches Tim Cole and Clinton Morehead and this term Pilates and Fitness Ball activities are part of the program and are run by Alana Gouldson, the qualified instructor at Eden Myotherapy and Pilates Clinic. All transport, venue and coaching/tuition costs are paid for by the federal grant.

    Last term Jane Stephens took swimming at the Blue Marlin heated pool. Special thanks to Eden Fisherman's Recreation Club for donating their courtesy bus and driver to transport the kids to and from the pool for the term. For enrolments ph 6496 1918"

    STARTING SCHOOL IN 2007

    There is a Teddy Bears Picnic at Eden Public School for all children starting school next year. Bring your Teddy Bear and something to eat, so come along on Friday, December 1, between 11.30am to 1pm, have a look at Kindergarten share some activities and become familiar with school life.

    EDEN EVENING VIEW

    The September outing of the Eden Evening View Club will be held on September 14. We will be going to Ann Comery's home at Womboyn for lunch. Members and their friends are to meet at the Eden Tourist Information Centre at 10.15am. All members are requested to bring a plate to share for lunch.     WODGER FAMILY REUNION

    A reunion of the descendants of John Woodger and his wife Jane Butler will be held at Sutton Forest (ACT)on the weekend of March 3& 4 2007. You are eligible to attend the reunion if you are a descendant of either Lillian Jane Woodger married Fred Newlyn of Eden, Constance Jessica Woodger married Fred Legge who lived in the Eden/Pambula area, Ester Amelia Woodger married James Dunn or Winifred Deborah Woodger married George Umback of Wyndham area.     DIABETES SUPPORT

    TIMBER WORKERS MEMORIAL

    Eden Timber Workers Memorial Inc will be holding their AGM on Thursday September 14 at the Eden Gardens Country Club. Any members of the public who are interested in the progress being made with this project are welcome to attend.

    RAFFLE WINNER

    The winner of the RSL Women's Auxiliary raffle was Mrs M Walker. The aux would like to thank everyone who purchased a ticket for their generous support. The next meeting of the Auxiliary will be on Thursday, September 14, at the hall starting at 9.30am. All are welcome.

    FIRE BRIGADE BALL

    The 9th annual Combined Kiah/ Wonboyn Lake Fire Brigade Ball will be held on Saturday October 7 at the Kiah hall, commencing at 7.30pm. This year the music will be provided by our local band 'Byjingo' and the dance floor has been seasoned to perfection. This year's theme is ˇ®From the Mountains to the sea', so come along appropriately dressed and join in the fun. Ti9cket5s are $20 adults, Students $10 and family tickets $50.     DAFFODIL DAY

    Eden-Pambula Cancer Support Group thank everyone who supported Daffodil Day on Friday, August 25. $3,732 was raised on the day. Thanks also to the many volunteers who spent their time in rather cold and miserable conditions especially to Jeanette who took daffodils to the industrial area and got rather wet. Thanks must also go the Ros at the Australasian Hotel and Images hair salon who supplied us with coffee etc.

    MEN'S BREAKFAST

    The combined Churches of Eden warmly invite you to their monthly Men's Breakfast at 8am on Saturday, September 9, at the Uniting Church Hall, Chandos Street. Come and inspect our new path, and enjoy a sumptuous home-cooked meal, friendly company and chat.

    WHALERS RAFFLE.

    The Eden Whalers Fathers Day raffle was drawn on Saturday September 2, with the lucky winners being 1st prize Ron Lambourne, 2nd, Bev Stone and 3rd, Shirley Weber. The Whalers thank everyone who supported the raffle.
